The year 2020 has come and gone. We are a year closer to the coming back of our Lord and Savior. The Lord has given each of us another chance. For many, including myself, the past year was a year filled with difficulty and pain. Despite all these sad developments, I believe God is still in control. I still look forward to the new year with hope. He has promised in His word never to leave us nor forsake us. I will continue to hold on to His promises.

The beginning of a new year always brings hope. It is a good time to re-evaluate our lives and see what changes need to be made. It is a time to re-focus and re-set our lives. The beginning of the new year is a good time to start afresh. Each person has been placed on this earth for a purpose. Only God can lead and guide each of us to reach our purpose in 2021. 


Habits to adopt in the new year

  • To study scripture more
  • To pray more
  • To adopt healthy habits
  • To volunteer
  • To learn a new skill
  • To read more
  • To keep a journal
  • To drink more water
  • To learn something new each day

If you have tried to adopt some of these habits in the past, and not followed through them, it would be good to try again. All this is possible in the Lord. On our strength, we can do nothing.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans. Proverbs 16:3

Only the Lord can help us in making the necessary changes we want to see in our lives. When we are confused or fearful about the future, it is better to ask Him who knows the end from the beginning. 

If you have any new habits to adopt or habits to change, it would be good to write them down and pray about them. God’s will for your life might not be the same for the other person. It is better to focus more on what He has in store for you. In due time, He will make His will known in your life.

It is also important to think of others as we enter the new year. Ask the Lord how you can be a blessing to your peers and those around you.
